What is PumpUpTheSite?
PumpUpTheSite is a FREE special event to benefit the Greenville Junior Chamber of Commerce. Just like buildings, from time to time web sites need to be fixed up and enhanced. In an age when technology and platforms are developing at amazing rates, the Jaycee's website is beginning to age. Our goal is to build a brand new web presence for the Jaycees with some social networking features, members-only areas, and fresh recruiting tools.
The challenge for a web site like the Jaycee's is the amount of time that an individual would have to invest to build what's really needed or the amount of money required to compete. That's where we came up with the idea of PumpUpTheSite. Just like an old fashioned barn raising, we felt that a group of folks working together could build something amazing in a very short period of time. But this digital barn raising is going to beyond just a web site; we're going to be sharing knowledge and information and working together to create a masterpiece. Additional inspiration was derived from the BarCamp concept.
The event has been planned to meet on Saturday, July 11th 2009 - 9am-5pm at the OrangeCoat offices and the HandleBar located on E Stone Ave just off north Main Street, near downtown Greenville.We'll have wireless and plenty of bandwidth so that you can easily participate. If you don't have a laptop, bring good ol' paper and pencil, there will be plenty of information shared to take notes from!
Did we mention FREE food? Come no matter your level of expertise, there will be ways for everyone to participate and learn!
